There are several organisations which provide services exclusively for women. Not all of them are designed specifically for women with mental health problems, but you can use them if you have mental health problems.

Peterborough Rape Crisis Counselling Group is a voluntary organisation that offers free support to female survivors of sexual abuse in the Peterborough area. The service can be offered over the telephone or there is face-to-face counselling that takes place at their premises. Referrals can be made directly by telephone or through the Police or other agencies. The centre is open on Tuesday evenings from7.30pm-10pm, and on Saturday mornings from 10-12noon.

The aim of the Women's Centre is to develop a one-stop resource centre in Peterborough for women and their children, by working with other agencies and women's groups across the city. it offers one-to-one and group support, counselling, confidence building, educational courses and social activities for women. Other organisations also belong to the centre, including the Women's Support Service and Peterborough Rape Crisis. There is also a drop-in/coffee morning, creche, pregnancy testing and a library and resource centre. Referral can be direct or via third party organisations. The centre is open from 10am - 4pm Monday to Friday and from 10am - 12noon on a Saturday.

This organisation is run for, and by, people who like to wear the clothes of the opposite gender and people who may be Transsexual. There are members throughout the country, with local groups in most areas.

This service is for women in emotional distress, particularly those who injure themselves. They provide a range of booklets on topics such as ‘Self-help for self-injury’. There is a helpline on Friday and Saturday evenings 9.00pm-12.30am and Sunday 6pm –9pm. They also support and run self-help groups and provide work-shops and training for professionals working with people who self-injure.

National infoline is run by women for women. It provides information for women with mental health difficulties and their carers. Women who are emotionally distressed, people working in the mental health field or anyone with an enquiry about women’s mental health. Includes information on self help and support groups, counselling and therapy organisations, statutory services (e.g. day centres), legal centres, medication and complementary therapies. All calls charged at local rate. Service covers UK.

Advice, information and support to mothers suffering from post-natal illness. Support is given by ex-sufferers by phone and letter. Information leaflets available for sufferers, their families and health professionals. The helpline is open 10.00am-2.00pm Monday and Friday and 10.00am-5.00pm, tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
